What is L-Lysine? - SkinGlo Collagen

It is one of the main ingredients in our SkinGlo collagen drinks, but what exactly is L-Lysine, and what does it do?

L-Lysine is one of the 20 essential amino acids. These are the building blocks of protein and cannot be made by the body. Like all amino acids, L-Lysine (or Lysine as it is sometimes referred to) must be obtained through food and supplementation. It can be found in fish, meats, peas, lentils, eggs, kidney beans and chickpeas.

The reason we add L-Lysine to our SkinGlo collagen drinks is that it helps to form collagen. Adding L-Lysine to our drinks ensures you have enough to promote further collagen production and allows the collagen in the drink to work effectively.

Interestingly, while its inclusion in our drink promotes collagen formation, there are added benefits. Some studies have found L-Lysine may help to slow or stop the growth of viruses. It also helps your body better absorb calcium, increasing bone strength, and it has been shown to reduce anxiety in some people.

If you want to improve your skin and reap the benefits of L-Lysine, you can shop our SkinGlo collagen range here.
