5 Ways to Keep Skin Younger for Longer

5 Ways to Keep Skin Younger for Longer

We all want clear, healthy skin. As well as time changing our skin, it’s also constantly being affected by external factors such as UV rays and air pollution. We start to lose our key building block to younger looking skin, collagen, from our early 20’s; SkinGlo will help replenish this lost collagen and look after your skin from within.

So how else can you look after yourself for smoother, plumper skin? We’ve listed a few other other things you can do to work in conjunction with SkinGlo in order to get – and maintain – a beautiful complexion.

1. Avoid smoking.

Smoking cigarettes is one of the quickest ways to add years to your skin. Aside from all the health issues associated with smoking, it’s well known for causing signs of premature ageing. And it’s not just on the face – smoking causes wrinkling all over.

Cigarettes contain nicotine, which narrows the blood vessels in the skin. This impairs blood flow to your skin, meaning the skin is not getting as much oxygen, vitamins, or – vitally – collagen. This leads to sagging, wrinkles, and a loss of volume. Cigarettes can also cause age spots, yellowing teeth, and dry, brittle hair, all which contribute to looking older.

Avoid cigarettes entirely to avoid these negative side effects.

2. Wear SPF every day.

The suns UV rays have a hugely detrimental effect on the skin. In fact, up to 80% of wrinkles can be caused by the sun, leading to pigmentation, a reduction in the skin’s elasticity, and degradation of the texture of the skin.

So just how exactly does the sun cause so much damage? While UVB rays are the well-known type of UV that burns the skin, UVA rays are what ages skin. UVA rays can penetrate through windows, so even inside you’re not entirely safe. The only way to avoid it and protect your skin is to wear an SPF daily – even in the winter.

3. Drink lots of water.

Drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water a day has a host of benefits to the body, in particular to the skin. As well as helping digestion and absorption, water carries nutrients to every cell of the body and improves blood flow. Water also helps flush out toxins, which keeps skin clear and fresh.

Drinking water helps keep skin hydrated which keeps it full of volume and less able to crease and wrinkle. Drink water to give your skin a youthful, healthy glow.

4. Have a good skin care routine.

As well as looking after your skin from within, it’s important to care for it on the outside, too. Throughout the day we sweat, face air pollution, wear makeup, and touch our faces. This can lead to a build up in oils and bacteria that can lead to spots and duller skin.

To keep skin clear, make sure to cleanse twice daily with a cleanser made for your skin type. If you’re unsure, experiment – the best cleanser for you will feel fresh and leave skin feeling hydrated, spot-free and clean.

Whilst cleansing, you will have also removed good oils that keep skin hydrated. It’s important to replenish these by following up with a good moisturiser. In the day, try to find one with an SPF. At night, the skin can absorb more, so try and find a more luxurious cream for your skin to absorb while you sleep.

For extra anti-ageing power, you can invest in different serums and eye creams to further target specific signs of ageing, such as crow’s feet and skin pigmentation.

5. Have a healthy diet.

A healthy diet and good nutrition is a key component to healthy skin. What you eat has a huge impact on the health and ageing of your skin, so it’s important to eat well if you want younger looking skin for longer.

There are some key foods which are excellent for keeping skin healthy. These include fatty fish (like salmon and mackerel), avocados, walnuts, sunflower seeds, bell peppers, broccoli, sweet potatoes and tomatoes. Green tea is also great for skin as it’s a popular anti-oxidant that can help protect and improve the skin’s health.
